Childbirth Education

Willow River offers childbirth education that is inclusive, informative, and applicable! While you’re going to learn A WHOLE LOT, this information comes with a focus on skill-building, and practical application. During classes, you’ll be asked questions that will help you identify your birth philosophy, and your unique needs during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. You’ll also build both your advocacy and comfort measures toolkits, and have time to both learn and practice physical skills with expert guidance from experienced doulas. Depending on what class you take, you’ll also learn basic babycare skills.

Community-Focused

Childbirth Education

We at Willow River Doula Collective want to change childbirth education for the better. Our standard education programs are community focused, which means:

  • We strive for connection, not efficiency. Programs are 6 weeks long, for 2 hours each week.

  • We are inclusive to all families, regardless of sexuality, ethnicity, and birth goals.

  • Each class will contain conversation prompts to share in class and continue discussing at home to prepare mentally for birth and the postpartum period.

  • We create time for all the silly questions, and hands on learning for birth support and newborn care.

  • You will have opportunities to connect with new parents and the wider KW community through these programs.
